Club President – General Manager

Kaylin Guzman
Incumbent and Host of Komic Corner
I would love to continue my role as WBCR President next semester. Some of my goals for the future is increasing our club membership and involving more people across campus. With the new equipment being brought in this semester, I would love to learn and teach more people the many possibilities WBCR can hold. Another goal for next semester is preparing the radio station to become a space of creativity and leadership. New shows can be started and the incorporation of other skills can be looked into. I hope to promote WBCR and have more people with a broader set of skills join our amazing community. Another goal I have for this following semester is holding more events to promote all the amazing work club members are doing. We have expanded a lot since our launch in the fall, however there are still many people that don’t know about it. Hosting fun events will allow our shows to reach more ears and possibly continue the show’s legacy by having newcomers to join established teams. I would love to continue working with everyone and growing alongside you. Thanks!

Christian Ortiz
Host of Komic Corner
The reason why I want to run for WBCR E-Board as the general manager is because I feel like I can bring a couple things to the table. Even though I started a show (Komic Corner) back in February, I’ve learned so much about how the radio station works in terms of management, how the station operates, getting to know a lot of people that come into the station to record their show or start a brand new show. If selected, I wish to make the radio station a more comfortable place for not only the people that go there to record but for regular students that want to either intern, help or just hang out at the radio station with their friends. I also want to make the radio station open to not only TREM students but to other students that are into a variety of things like sports, entertainment, news or any other topics. Overall I want to make the radio station a better place, one where everyone is welcome.
Club Vice President – Program Director

Nova Berrios
Music Programming Intern and Host of Nights with Nova
I am passionate for Radio Programming and mentoring, i am invested in managing the sound and talent of the station by providing support for programming by building talent, shows and music library. I want to help motivate and empower all students who are interested in pursuing their dreams in the media field by sharing the tools and resources that have worked for me.

TS Richards
Incumbent
As a potential candidate for Program Director of WBCR, I have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the station and the campus community. With my skills, experience, and passion for radio, I can help shape the station’s programming and increase its reach and influence. Over the past year as the Executive Producer, I have helped the station go from zero programing to 14 shows and I have even more plans for the station. If elected I hope to expand our music library to include more modern music, and internship program with Midwood to assist club members with their shows as well creating a recruitment opportunity for the school and the club. I also hope to increase our average daily listeners to about 1000-5000 listeners. But moreover, I aim to create a safe and fun environment where all members of the station can thrive and create content that they are proud of. But most of all I want club members to be able to look back on their time at WBCR fondly. I feel that with this experience as well as my passion these are goals that can be not only met but exceeded. By electing me as Program Director, the station will benefit from my leadership and expertise, and the campus community will enjoy a richer and more engaging radio experience.
Club Treasurer – Business Manager

Sean Markisic
Host of Bret & Sean
I’m interested in learning about different aspects of station as well as the decision making process of what shows get approval to be on air. By doing this it would allow me to also learn more of the technical side of the radio station. My current schedule for next semester has a long break on Monday’s, which is also during my current radio show, The Bret & Sean Show. Tuesday to Thursday I have morning and early afternoon classes. I have no classes on Friday’s so my schedule is pretty flexible as to when I can be at the radio station. People should vote for me because I will always want to help anyone with anything they need and I’m a very easy going and understanding person.
Club Secretary – Promotions Director

Joshua Narisma
Incumbent Music Director
I would be a great fit for Club Secretary / Promotions Director because I have two semesters of experience at WBCR and am very involved in the club’s activities. I have good standing within the JAMS Department and have fostered meaningful connections with the department chair, professors, and other students. As the current Music Director, I am very familiar with the technical aspects of radio production (i.e. recording and broadcast equipment). I am also familiar with the other people at the station, and know what their passions and interests are. These are things that I believe would translate well into the secretary position, as I’d be working closely with the other E-Board members to ensure that our projects are being fulfilled to best of our abilities. I am a team player and possess many qualities favorable for a secretarial position, such as good communication, attention to detail, and flexibility. Furthermore, I am an expert at Google Workspace and familiar with Microsoft Suite – two platforms I’d likely be using as the Club Secretary. I am comfortable with filling out paperwork, organizing materials, and promoting club content both in-person and online. Although I’ve enjoyed my experience as Music Director, I know what my strengths are, and believe I’d be more suited to the role of Club Secretary.

Jessica Lowery
Writer and Producer of Tea Takes Radio and Host of The Get Back
I am running for WBCR E- Board so I can contribute to the positive trajectory of WBCR. I am currently a writer and co-producer for TeaTakesRadio that airs on WBCR on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and a co-host of The Get Back on Thursdays. Through these two shows, I am already familiar with the station and have built positive relationships with other radio club participants and e-board members. I will also be contributing to other student shows planned for the Summer and Fall 2023 semesters. As Club Secretary I would faithfully execute responsibilities for connecting with other campus and community organizations, recruiting students, organizing promotional events and give consistent support to station management and other e-board members.
Online Content Manager

The Online Content Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the station’s web site, social media presence, and streaming infrastructure. As a paid position, the Online Content Manager works closely with the Program, Promotions, News, Sports, and Music Directors to facilitate the distribution of Brooklyn College Radio programming beyond the station itself utilizing selected online platforms. The Online Content Manger also works with relevant colleagues to maintain the online archive of station policy and operations documents, and conducts outreach to other campus and community organizations for online cross-promotional opportunities.
News Director

Chloe Hernandez
Host of WBCR News
Since joining the WBCR team in February, I have been adamant about covering the news and attempting to engage listeners in what they should know not only around campus, but also in their society or country. I am now the host of WBCR news, where I aim to do this on each show, as well as cover topics that I feel are engaging, and I would like to move up as a News Director in order to get involved more with students who have similar and relevant ideas.
Music Director

James Becker
Music Programming Intern and Host of Score
I have been working for almost 2 months on uploading a variety of music genres onto the streaming platform. I’ve also managed to find clean versions of popular rap songs with explicit lyrics. I also found solutions to problems with uploading audio files to the streamer such as the station IDs. I’ve also accommodated some shows by downloading their theme songs to the desktops for easier access.
Sports Director

Damien Ovalle
Incumbent
Sports Director is the position that got me started with radio as a whole. Coming into the radio station not knowing anything or barely anyone, sports was the one thing that brought me closer to not only our station but to Brooklyn College. During my tenure as the Sports Director, I’ve gotten close with the faculty in West Quad and have become a common name to them, based on the relationship I’ve built with them for months on end. As the Sports Director, I’ve connected with SIDs (Sports Information Directors) from all other Cunys and become very acquainted with them furthering my relationship with CUNY Sports. Meeting the players and coaches on and off the courts or fields, I’ve been able to connect with them and build a relationship that leaves a smooth transition from sports to radio, I’ve gained the trust of the athletes which can only further benefit the radio station even creating a possibility of joint projects. As the Sports Director, I’ve connected with past Sports Directors from WBCR and together we’ve successfully live-streamed Brooklyn College Basketball games from youtube gaining an immense amount of traction and that will only continue If I remain as the Director.

Samuel Kelleher
Host of The Get Back
I transferred to Brooklyn College because of the radio station and to be able to give back, help build and maintain what has already been built. With the collaboration of past, present and future board members I think we can make this radio station a staple for the campus and have it be one of the best if not the best thing brooklyn college can offer.
